The Check List Manifesto: How To Get Things Done Right

I found this book to be a wonderful and intriguing read. Based on the authors experiences in healthcare and personally as a surgeon be brings to light something we all know we ought to do but often times choose not to act upon: Creating check lists. As a side note: The author's (Atul Gawande) perspective and experiences in healthcare are alarming, I am far more cautious after reading this book.

What is most thought provoking to me (speaking personally) was realizing that, in many cases, people will choose not to implement a check list even when they realize the benefits. In the world of IT it is not uncommon to get side tracked while resolving a “systems down” issue. Check lists provide the opportunity stay on track; moreover they assist with critical thinking processes. This book provides well-written accounts and in some cases solutions.
